We believe people, whether short stay, spa break, extended retreat vacation or even those using as a living space want a sense of escapism, nature and harmony but in comfort and to standards set within the wider hotel marketplace. The design of the Nokken cabins reflects all of these key tenets and provides the guest with not only a sense of location or a natural balance, but also a simplistic, honest design. It is a pure mix of everything we miss as human beings in the modern world; the immediacy to nature and the rawness of the outdoor world, but coupled with a contemporary tone and quality that fits perfectly with individuals ideals.
To live in the great outdoors and have direct access to a landscape is not only a lifestyle its a philosophy, and one Nokken allows access to. We see this as the worlds most luxurious hotel experience, the ‘stars’ counted through the window on a clear night, rather by the number of swimming pools and services available. However our love for the outdoors brings a commitment to treating the environment with the due care and attention it deserves.
Our philosophy means it has effected every design decision we’ve made, from initial sketch right through to manufacturing and logistics. From incorporating the efficient use of energy, utilising space and selecting the correct sustainable materials, to delivering a low maintenance cabin that can effectively be located anywhere in the world, then depart leaving no discernible trace in nature.
Nokken cabins are built with FSC certified timber with the majority of structural elements formed by CLT (cross laminated timber - an incredibly strong and sustainable way of using wood) and finishings clad in European Larch. In the majority of situations, the cabins are built modular, meaning that they are delivered as one complete unit. Whereas most building sites, homes or hotels can count hundreds of truck journeys or thousands of Kilometers driven, our cabins take one journey, one time.
